Czytaj po polsku →Captain Pellet — shop or producer? The CP lines, certificate PL 338, reviews
Captain Pellet of Kraków describes itself as a supplier of certified pellets, not a sawmill. How the CP Premium, Energy, Power and Perfect lines differ, what number PL 338 means, and what the trade press said about the brand in 2022.
Updated 4 September 2026
Captain Pellet is one of the most-searched brands in our statistics — and one of the few about which more can be said than "ENplus A1, 6 mm". The company has its own shop, four product lines with different parameters, and a trade-press article with customer opinions. We start with the question worth asking every brand: is it a producer?
A shop, not a sawmill
On its own "About us" page Captain Pellet describes itself as a "supplier of certified pellets" — not a producer. Registered office: Rynek Kleparski 17/4 in Kraków; personal collection: ZNT Połaniec (Świętokrzyskie province). Besides wood pellets it sells sunflower-husk pellets.
Product names carry the number ENplus A1 ID-No.: PL 338. Under the ENplus standard a company that trades bagged pellets and owns the bag design must be certified as a trader — so PL 338 attests to Captain Pellet's supply chain, not to a particular sawmill. The product pages name no plant where the pellets are pressed. They do name the raw material: "clean spruce sawdust, without binders or chemical additives".
The four CP lines — how they differ
Declarations from the product pages and from the budujemysami.pl article (September 2022):
| Line | Calorific value | Ash | Moisture | Pallet |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CP Energy Premium | ≥ 17.4 MJ/kg | ≤ 0.7% (the description also promises "no more than 0.3%") | ≤ 7% | 1050 kg / 70 bags |
| CP Power Premium | 17.5 MJ/kg | < 0.7% | < 8% | — |
| CP Premium | 18.26 MJ/kg | < 0.6% | < 7% | 1050 kg / 70 bags |
| CP Perfect Premium | 18 MJ/kg | < 0.5% | < 6% | — |
All class A1, 6 mm. Note the Energy Premium row: the same page gives ash as "no more than 0.7%" and "at a level not exceeding 0.3%". The first is the certificate threshold, the second a seller's promise. Treat them accordingly.
A Captain Pellet pallet is 1050 kg = 70 bags, heavier than the typical 975 kg. That matters for comparisons: 1,610 zł for 1050 kg is 1,533 zł/t, while the same amount for 975 kg would be 1,651 zł/t — the arithmetic makes a 118 zł/t difference.
Prices: 2022 versus today
The budujemysami.pl article of 15 September 2022 — the peak of the fuel crisis — recorded Captain Pellet prices at 2,850–2,980 zł/t (40.71–42.57 zł per bag) and quoted customers for whom the new Premium lines were "a price beyond buyers' means".
In our table we track two lines: CP Energy Premium and CP Premium. At the time of writing the last recorded prices were 1,610 zł and 1,620 zł per 1050 kg pallet, i.e. 1,533 and 1,543 zł/t — the lowest zł/t among the A1 offers we track, but both with the status "out of stock". A price you can't act on isn't a price; check the current stock status in the table, and a price alert will tell you when the offer comes back below your threshold.
Reviews — what the source contains
We don't collect reviews of our own. The 2022 budujemysami.pl article summarises customer opinions as: praise for quality ("a clean product, no sand or contaminants", burns without clinker, little ash), praise for service (punctuality, contact) — and criticism of the price of the new Premium lines. That is an account from four years ago, from a period when every pellet was expensive; treat it as a reference point, not as a verdict on today's batch.
Before you buy
- PL 338 in the ENplus register — check validity and certificate type.
- Which line — the ash differences between CP Premium and Energy Premium are real (0.6% vs 0.7%) but smaller than the difference between A1 and uncertified fuel.
- Convert to a tonne using 1050 kg, not 975 — and check the stock status.
